YAYER

Yesterday I came across a website, I thought was definitely worth a mention. YAYER.CO.UK, this online boutique is an amazing mix of vintage and new, that all have a quirky feel and individuality to it! It's twitter tagline is "Kick ass vintage and modern fashion online" and I don't think anyone could have put it any better!
Some of my favourite picks.

I LOVE FLOWERS AND BALLOONS. NEED I SAY MORE

CAR KNEE VAL

This weekend was another busy one, especially seeing as it was bank holiday weekend. I ended up spending my Friday night, in Kingston, catching up with a friend who has recently returned from a long summer in America and her mother. When we get together, inevitably wine is consumed. This was no exception. We spent our evening on the water front, in a small French restaurant called Frere Jacques, where my second mother knows the owner. Sadly this was the last Friday night it would ever see, as on the Monday they were scheduled to shut down, due to contractors and developers. I found this so sad, seeing as this was one of the best French restaurants I have ever been too and the Snails were out of this world! Good Luck to John (the owner) and whatever life brings him next.

But this was not the end of my weekend. As I had to work the Bank Holiday Monday my friends and I decided that, we would just have to make do with going to Nottinghill Carnival on the Sunday, family day. This suited me just fine, I love Carnival and every time I go, the atmosphere never ceases to impress me. When we are shown so much evil and hate in the world, it is amazing to be surrounded by thousands of like minded people, who just want to celebrate life and all the happiness that comes from it.
We were also happy, as the weather was amazing, so sunny and not a rain cloud in sight! Always good when you have a valid excuse to get your legs out. I was scared the heavens would open, but they did not. I wore a customised Floral Pink Shift Dress (River Island, £15, summer sale) and Denim Jacket (Primark, £13). I went for bright summery colours, as I know as soon as A/W hits, I will inevitably be in all black. I want and need to make the most of the sunny weather!

Clearly had too much fun at Carnival!

MIDAS TOUCH

Currently reading over the Vogue September Issue, for the umpteenth time since buying it, whilst watching the Olympic Closing Ceremony. This has to be one of the most spectacular pieces of television to be broadcast for some time.... Well maybe since the Opening anyway. So there was some cringe and of course moments of sheer madness, where all you could do was raise your eyebrows at them. Not to mention Boris Johnson dancing along to the Spice Girls, surely this is most peoples highlight? However the fact remains, that they not only involved a vast number of British celebrities and musical talent, but they also decided to involve the beauty of Britain and the fashion that we, as Brits can surely be proud to showcase. The fact that all of the clothes were modeled by British models, made by British designers, just shows how truly amazing this country really is. Whilst watching the ceremony, it made me, someone who could safely say is not overly patriotic, into someone who was indeed proud to be British, as did the Olympic games in its entirety.  And as it closed, infamous words were said "When our time came, Britain, we did it right!"

GLOBAL

So Just as I was actually getting used to this blogging situation, I only went and broke my laptop... Not ideal. Now I am back in the world of technology, I thought I should get back into the swing of things. Since my last post, I have actually managed to get out of the house and enjoy life. One of the main events of the last few weeks was working at Global Gathering Festival. This was not planned and was completely out of the blue. With the help of my good friend Kareem, we were able to visit the festival for free, on the grounds that we worked promoting the brand Kenco Coffee. This was found through the company Street Stuff. This meant that we were able to watch the acts of the festival in the night, whilst working from 10am until 6pm. Global Gathering was never really on my festival "To do" list, but now that I have been there, I can safely say, that it was one of the best festivals I have been to in a long time. Maybe this was because it was so unexpected, but still, not only was the atmosphere friendlier and more welcoming than other festivals, but also the layout, different attractions and the sheer number of acts were very impressive.

The photo to the left is Kareem and I, before our first promotion shift, in the Kenco tent.
Not only were we given (trusted with) Ipad's, but we were also asked to venture out and promote the competition Kenco were offering, to win an exclusive 4 day trip to New York. The weather that weekend was one of the hottest and sunniest I think we have had all Summer, so we were not about to complain one bit! All we had to do, was get people to tweet #kencomoment and they were in it with a chance to win. We also had a small stand that sold Coffee, Tea and Hot Chocolate.... although no one was really that keen for them, seeing as it was around 30 degrees.

Another reason why we were so happy to be there, was because a small group of university friends had  already planned and bought their tickets to go. So we were able to enjoy the festival with them. Even if they were slightly bitter that we got to be there for free.

ART DEPARTMENT SUN SET
In the evening, we were able to venture into the actual festival arena and even though the main feel of the festival catered towards music genres like Dubstep and Drum and Bass, there was also still a handful of House DJ's and Producers and that was where we spent most of our time. We saw the likes of Art Department, Seth Troxler, Annie Mac, Magnetic Man, P Money, Boy Better Know, Disclosure, Maya Jane Coles and Jamie Jones. This Picture was taken as we were watching Art Department. The sun was setting and was one the most euphoric moments of the whole weekend. I would most definitely go back next year, as long as the line-up was as good and I would definitely pay. This is a festival well worth the dollar.
